Perigee Moon – February 19, 2019

Posted in ASTRO on February 20, 2019 by maxpho

A wonderful Moon at perigee. Big, bright, and steady; that is, in good seeing conditions.

Equipment: 200mm Newtonian, Baader MPCC, ASI1600MMC, Baader RGB filters, Baader IR-pass filter for luminance.

A short walk in the woods – February 18, 2019

Posted in Plimbari on February 18, 2019 by maxpho

A short trip on a beautiful Spring day in the Comana Woods. Went together with my uncle to see what’s up in the insect world, and I wasn’t disappointed.

High resolution lunar images – February 17, 2019

Posted in ASTRO on February 18, 2019 by maxpho

An annoying session, with highly variable seeing conditions. I did try to get the best of the images, but I think I’m loosing my touch (I haven’t imaged the Moon in high res for some time…).

Equipment: 355mm F/4.5 Newtonian. ASI174MM, red filter.

Spring on February 17

Posted in Plimbari on February 18, 2019 by maxpho

It seems that Spring came a bit earlier this year: in February…

Many insects and arachnids were walking, flying, hiding today…in 15 degrees Celsius.

First Quarter Moon in colors- February 13, 2019

Posted in ASTRO on February 15, 2019 by maxpho

The result of a short imaging session with the Moon, in mediocre seeing conditions. I did try to get the best out of it, with soft colors added after intense processing. Too bad the seeing was on the poor side…The image is with South up, as seen through the eyepiece.

The Moon with Saturn – February 2, 2019

Posted in ASTRO on February 2, 2019 by maxpho

It could have been a wonderful event this Moon-over-Saturn event, but the Earth’s atmosphere said otherwise.

Lots of cirrus clouds rolled in…At least they’ve showed their true colors at sunrise…

I did manage to catch the pair while rising, between some trees…
